Sun Enters Libra October 16th

The Sun enters the Vedic sign of Libra on October 16th and brings a focus on peace, harmony, artistic creativity and relationships. A great month to create a beautiful home altar or yoga space, or buy that pretty yoga mala for meditation!

The Libra Sun Person
If you were born between October 16 to November 15, you are a Libra Sun according to Vedic Astrology. People with the Sun in Libra love balance, harmony and beauty.  They are fair-minded and may tend to be indecisive because they can see both sides of any situation. Although good in business, they are better suited working with other people and not independently. They are usually straightforward, fair and honest in their opinions and dealings. They care and will do things for others. They can be generous but are often misunderstood. These people are sensually inclined and like beautiful things. They abhor violence and like life to be full of peace and love. However, they aren’t always very moralistic and should beware of associating with others that may drag them down.

The Libra Yogi
The Libra Sun Yogi enjoys a balanced yoga practice in all areas that allows for a sense of relationship to other students, teacher and themselves.  They are very social and may want to go out after class for something good to eat or just to connect and talk. They need to pull in their desire to be overly pleasing to the teacher, vacillating in their practice, and an inability to commit to one course of action or practice. They will always have the most tasteful yoga clothes and be well presented.  A Libra yogini is well accessorized and looks smashing in white. They have a natural sense of grace and balance and are popular in their circle of yoga friends.

Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse October 18th!

The full moon and lunar eclipse occurs this day at 6:38 pm (Central Time USA) and in the nakshatra of Ashwini.

In general, when planets occupy the area of the zodiac under the influence of Ashwini, it is an excellent time for all healing activities, and the full moon as well enhances our healing energy. Looks like the perfect day to do healing meditations and increase our intake of fresh juices, as well as begin a yoga practice or learn new yogic techniques.

In fact, all self-improvement activities are favored this day, as well as learning the spiritual sciences of yoga, astrology and Ayurveda. Adopting a spiritual name is also auspicious on this day. This is one of the best times of the month to create an altar and engage in all practices of yoga, including healing meditations, and taking special herbs and elixirs.

The Lunar eclipse takes away the light of the Full Moon to create temporary darkness. From this darkness, we’re able to discern a new light as the eclipse passes. We have the opportunity to gain a fresh perspective on our emotional state (Moon). The energies this day are full of psychic impressions and are not conducive for making big decisions or taking new actions. Instead, it is a time to be meditative, reflective, and work on being centered and avoiding emotional dramas. Often old fears arise, as well as issues around the mother.

On Lunar eclipse days, it is advised to meditate near water, or submerge in water, and increase liquid intake. Heal, rest, and meditate and you will gain a new emotional perspective as the eclipse passes.

Yes, Mercury is still going retrograde October 21

A simple yogic technique to mellow out this retrograde over the next three weeks is to hold the mudra for Mercury for 15 minutes. You can do this anytime, even while you are working. You can even fall asleep hold this hand position!

Simply touch the tip of the thumb and little finger together (one or both hands).

Light and Love,

Mehtab
